From Vintage Seance to Salem & Binx

Well folks, it's time for a change. After blogging on Vintage Seance for ten whole years now, I feel ready to give what Vintage Seance has been a new home, a new name, and a bit more TLC too - but not to worry it's still the same little ol' me behind the blog...

Meet Salem & Binx.
(Click Below)
For all things festive.

For the last year, I've been absent from Vintage Seance, working on an entirely new website, a brand really, called Salem & Binx. Much like Vintage Seance it'll include lots of blogging about Halloween, but in addition will include blogging about all of our favorite party holidays: New Year's, Valentine's, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas!

Think of Salem & Binx as your go-to guide for all things holiday. Seeing as there’s always a holiday on its way, or at least four beautiful seasons to live by, Salem & Binx is a one of a kind lifestyle blog offering everything from tips on entertaining, festive merch’ favorites, and so much more…

And that's not all - there’s plenty more entertainment where that came from - Salem & Binx Present… is the all-new accompanying podcast to Salem & Binx. Join me, the Salem & Binx blogger, and my co-host and bestie Ashley W., as we discuss our culture's favorite holiday movies and explore seasonal cinema...

Feel free to subscribe to Salem & Binx and you'll be one of my contacts! Now, I promise not to bombard you with tons of annoying emails, only once in a little while will I send one with a number of recent updates in it. And if you'd like to be able to comment on the blog, become a member! All you need to do it sign up in the members tab and you can comment on any posts you like, follow other members, and create your own profile!

After working on the website and blog for a whole year now - and only developing the podcast within the past few months - I've only recently made Salem & Binx live to the public. So far, we've got two episodes, a few blog posts, and a website that's still somewhat under construction, but it's a process and it's coming along.

Although part of me is sad to not be blogging on Vintage Seance any longer, I am very proud of the new home my work and blogging will now have - it allows me to expand on what Vintage Seance has always been into something that offers much more in the way of entertainment, finding and sharing the incredible work of others, and of course the opportunity to produce a holiday-movie-themed podcast - I must say, I see it as a win-win-win.

To you, my awesome handful of loyal readers and followers, you guys are what have kept Vintage Seance what is has been, and are what have made it into what it's becoming! Your support has inspired me to keep following my dreams into becoming something in-between a wannabe Martha Stewart and a wannabe Elvira, with a playful edge, and I hope that you will continue to follow me in my next adventure.

And of course, if that's too involved for you - not to worry we're on all the social stuff to make it even easier to keep up:

PLUS you can subscribe to Salem & Binx Present... which is available on: Apple Podcasts and Spotify!

Overall, I want to thank the lot of you awesome folks for making this such a fun and meaningful project to me - a blog that has allowed me and my work to grow - sincerely, thank you. Here's to always keeping in touch, to always having something to celebrate, and most importantly, to all things festive! 🥂

Scare L.A.

I'm not far from L.A. so I'm definitely thinking about attending this awesome looking Halloween convention that I've heard so many great things about! For those of you out there who've been, what were your thoughts, or experiences? I'd love to know more from any fellow haunters.
Located at the L.A. Mart, or now The Reef, the convention will house many exhibitors including Dread Central, Fangoria, Creature Features, and more. The two day event features panels, presentations, workshops, classes, and not to mention a Scare L.A. screening room (accepting your film submission now), and even a Halloween party!

Here's a neat promo! Check out their site; Scare LA.com

Bloody Excited!

Just bought Mr. Jones, featuring scarecrows made by none other than the incredibly talented Pumpkin Rot! Can't wait to watch it! Got my copy at Target and it was only around $10, definitely check it out if you can. To find more information on Rot's work on Mr. Jones, check out his blog; Pumpkin Rot: What's Brewing / Mr. Jones

In Over Your Head?

I sure have been! Sorry for being away from the blog for so long! And sorry that all of my posts seem to be apologies from me about not being on my blog as often as I'd like. Sometimes I struggle trying to be in a million places at once; disneyland, school, improv, writing screenplays, and still trying to fulfill my haunter dreams. Either way, I always know that no matter how busy we become, our haunter life still awaits. Even when the season isn't here, even if we're too busy to post anything, or even if we haven't had the chance to create some great art in a long time. Anyway, just saying "Hello" again, and hoping all my favorite haunter folks are doing well. Your blogs are amazing and beautiful and continue to inspire me and encourage me. Thanks for always being frightful, my haunter friends!

Every year I look forward to seeing the photos of Pumpkinrot's haunt, and each year he continues to impress me; this year was no exception. Check out Rot's Scarecrow Catacomb, it truly is a masterpiece!

Pumpkin Rot and Mr. Jones

I just wanted to congratulate one of my favorite haunters and designers, PumpkinRot, on his opportunity to get to work with the crew of Mr. Jones. I happened to take a look on his blog today and realized there was a great link that showed all of his posts about his journey so far. Such amazing and impressive stuff, so proud!

"We used tracking boards and chat rooms, and we kept hearing the same name, Pumpkinrot."

October 1st: Two Year Anniversary

Proud to say Vintage Seance is two years old! I first began blogging (mostly sharing interesting media) on October 1st of 2009. It's been a great two years and I am happy to always find new links, photos, videos, and articles to share with those who have enjoyed Vintage Seance and for those who are soon to discover it. Thank you to all my loyal readers/viewers and commenters, it means a lot! Also thanks to all the bloggers, haunters, photographers, filmmakers, and other artists who have inspired me. I say raise a glass of your drink of choice and here's to another fun year, a terrific & beautiful haunting season , and let the partying forever carry on!

A New Year Among Us

Sorry for not posting anything in FOREVER! I have been very busy taking care of my cat Trouble who recently had to have her spleen removed. Thankfully though, she has been getting better. However, I didn't get a chance to come up with a new years resolution, but I believe that no matter what it will be, I shall always try to create more blog posts with more interesting information, media, and art. I'd also like to thank my followers for checking out my blog and leaving nice comments so much during the last year, you are all the greatest! I promise, more Vintage Seance favorites (pics, videos, stories, art, etc.) to come!

Sleepy Hollow

This blog has some perfect stills and a very beautiful and well-crafted haunt. I absolutely love the Crone! I got to play her in a drama festival once. (We performed the scene where Ichabod Crane visits her in the Western Woods. In most high school drama festivals they don't allow the performers to use props or costumes so when we performed in the "Scenes from Film" category, we realized how difficult the category actually was. The scene we chose was perfect for a film- with music, special effects, props, costumes... but not so perfect in our little performance without all those elements. Definitely an embarrassing day.)
