Just saw the remake of Nightmare on Elm Street this weekend and have to say that it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. In fact, it was actually quite good. Of course there were a few laughable moments, particularly some acting moments in the beginning of the film, but overall I actually really enjoyed it... and even found myself plugging my ears, fearing when the jumpy loud music would tear through the silent tense moments.
Because the story of Nightmare on Elm Street involves Freddy Krueger attempting to kill his victim's in their dreams, the remake contains plenty of twisting elements to make these dreams as terrifying as possible. What I really liked was that the film was quite different from the original, but still hinted at some of the original's classic scenes. It managed to keep some of the shocking elements from the original while also making it's own terrifying moments. What I also liked was that I felt like I knew more about the story of Freddy and what really happened through this version than I did watching the original. Although, it's been a long time since I first saw it, perhaps I will have to watch it again soon.

ReplyDeleteomg i loved the remake of the film. it was pretty good. i know because i remember watching it with my best friend when it first premiered in theatres because we were such big fans of the original movies as well as the series.
ReplyDeleteim glad you did a blog based on this movie cause the movie was pretty good and well worth watching even if you do prefer the original (this is coming from a girl who loves and criticizes horror movies as much as the average person.)
