The Clock is Ticking...

What is my New Year's Resolution? I guess I have a few: make more films, keep my blog updated, write more stories (at least finish some of them), collect more antiques, and (in general) face all responsibilities in a positive way. I am quite sure that I will be able to succeed and fulfill these tasks... especially the one about keeping the blog updated.

Ouija To Go!

A great little gift my friend gave me for Christmas. I absolutely love how small and cute it is- it also glows in the dark!

Alice

Been very excited about Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland which will be released in March. I haven't always been a fan of the original Disney original version from 1951- don't know why, it just didn't appeal to me that much, but after my brother told me about a version done in 1988 including stop-animation, I immediately searched for clips of it on YouTube. In the process, I discovered "Alice in Wonderland" versions from 1903, 1915, and 1933 (which stars Cary Grant). Watching these has gotten even more excited about Tim Burton's upcoming picture!

The 1903 version:

My friend took this great picture of us on Halloween sitting around the seance table with her Holga camera.

Thinking about doing a small short film and/or stop-animation soon, hopefully during winter break... must brainstorm.

Danny Do More

Daniel Moser used to be a student of my aunt's at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. After majoring in Theatre Production and Design, Danny created a website to display his creative designs, photographs, costumes, videos, and news about his work in the theatre. I absolutely love how fun the website is and his creative taste. Here are a few images from his site.

Dream Scape

My best friend Tesily took some amazing photos and edited them for her photo final just recently. When I saw them, I was so inspired by their beauty and Tesily's ability to tell an amazing story through her photography thus I decided they must be featured on the blog. They are eerie, beautiful and fully prove that my friend has an amazing eye when it comes to art. She has always been one of my biggest inspirations in life, especially in art. Every year she puts together gorgeous, detailed, and brilliant Halloween costumes and has great taste when it comes to decor. When we first started hanging out together in middle school, Tesily and I immediately brought out our creativity and came up with abstract and bizarre stories; to this day we quote the silly characters we came up with. She has always inspired me and continues to do so every day, but don't take my word for it, just take a look at her work and you will clearly see how talented she is. I guarantee there will be many more posts on Tesily and her work!

Rain, Finally!

A gorgeous, windy, chilly rainy day... haven't had one in a long, long time. Today there were rolling leaves and swaying trees as water poured down on us. Great to know that seasons DO exist in Southern California, at least a little bit.

The sunset looked quite a bit like this today.

Lives of Robbers and Murderers

Halloween wouldn't be the same without it sitting above the fireplace.

My Spellbook

Ok, so it's really an antique photo album, but it's from the Victorian era and the style is perfect for my witch's display. Thus, every year I put it alongside everything that goes on the witch's crafty table. I am pretty sure my aunt bought the album at an antique store a long time ago. I don't know how we ended having it, but I remember the first time my mom showed it to.

We were cleaning out the garage one day when I was pretty young, probably around eight- years-old. We were going through all sorts of things trying to organize when my mom came across the old photo album. She called my brother and me to come take a look. She started to pull it out of a box or behind one (can't remember) but she as she did so, there on the old album was a big black widow. She freaked out and my brother and I followed. Somehow she must have killed the spider and felt it was okay to pick up the book again. When she did, she opened the latch and began going through the pages. It was full of photos and tin-types taken during the Victorian era, probably of members from the same family, we assume. People we don't know though, all the more mysterious.

Seeing that photo album and all those faces from so long ago really intrigued me. At the time, I wasn't a fan of antiques (unlike now) but when I saw this album, it had quite an impact on me. And it still does today; it's a spooky antique, but one that I love. Every year, when I pull it out, I just have to take a good look inside, as if I can't have Halloween without doing so.

Witch Hunting

The Man in Black... he whispers something in her ear...
